Viva Recordings keeps cranking out the jams with Format, the latest offering from Seattle-based producer J.Alvarez. This 4-track EP drips with sultry soundscapes and raw emotion as it weaves it way through the various essences of contemporary deep house. "Format" starts us off with a sparkling and distinct pad overtop a big bass line destined for late night dance floor antics. "Silver Fir" keeps the disco vibes alive with subtle chord progressions and a stabby bass line that gives this track a subdued "last-track-of-the-night" kind of feel. "Days After" propels this EP forward with a classic tech-house beat and a big bass line that gives this thing as much funk as it does soul. "Ottonaw Disco" is exactly what the name implies; a grooving house beat with a classic disco sample that takes you back a couple decades in all the right ways.
